Reducing the efficiency roll-off in organic light-emitting diodes at high currents under external magnetic fields

چکیده

Singlet-polaron and triplet-polaron annihilation mechanisms are the most detrimental exciton quenching processes that lower efficiency of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) at high current densities, causing so-called roll-off in these devices. These loss also critical obstacles towards realization electrically pumped semiconductor lasers, which require very densities to reach threshold. Herein, under a relatively large external magnetic field, we demonstrate europium (Eu 3 + )-based solution-processed OLEDs can be suppressed some extent while luminance is enhanced. We achieve this by reducing Förster-type exciton–polaron processes. Under applied show manipulation polaron-spin dynamics lead quantitative suppression. • Modified an field lanthanide-based OLEDs. Efficiency suppression due reduced quenching. Brightness enhancement field.

High-efficiency organic light-emitting diodes with fluorescent emitters.

Fluorescence-based organic light-emitting diodes have continued to attract interest because of their long operational lifetimes, high colour purity of electroluminescence and potential to be manufactured at low cost in next-generation full-colour display and lighting applications. In fluorescent molecules, however, the exciton production efficiency is limited to 25% due to the deactivation of t...

Highly efficient triazine/carbazole-based host material for green phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes with low efficiency roll-off

Two novel host materials, 3-(dibenzo[b,d]furan-4-yl)-9-(4,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-9H-carbazole (BFTC) and 3-(dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-4-yl)-9-(4,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-9H-carbazole (BTTC) were designed and synthesized. These two compounds exhibited excellent physical properties with high thermal stabilities and reasonable HOMO–LUMO energy levels. Both of them were applied to fabricat...

Organic light-emitting transistors with an efficiency that outperforms the equivalent light-emitting diodes.

The potential of organic semiconductor-based devices for light generation is demonstrated by the commercialization of display technologies based on organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Nonetheless, exciton quenching and photon loss processes still limit OLED efficiency and brightness. Organic light-emitting transistors (OLETs) are alternative light sources combining, in the same architecture,...
